This past weekend was my Papa's would be birthday, and man how we all miss him! Our family got together to celebrate by doing his favorite-- a fish fry! Since then, have been thinking more and more about him and how he made all of us feel special, and I think I've decided " it's all in the name". Papa has 10 grandchildren; everyone of those 10 have their own special nickname that papa has given them. Looking back, that special name that only you and him shared meant the world! He never forgot it, he never called you by your birthname, and he always made a point to use it. It's funny noone else picked uP on the names- it was something only the two of you shared. As we gathered together to celebrate his life, I know was and is smiling down on all of us: sweetie pie, blondie, nubin, bubba, sassafras, beaucifus, buddy, ms. Aster, Putter pants, and peanut! So, here's to my papa- the best grandfather you could want. we love you and we miss you
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet what you said about Papa. It brought tears to my eyes. Do you remember when Ally told Papa when he got to heaven we expected quarters instead of pennies? When I was at the library to check out some books, I picked up Jeffery Archer's new book, opened it up and 3 quarters fell into my hand. I was awestruck to hear from Papa. I figured he was thanking us for his birthday, saying he was happy over your good news about the baby, and that he loved me. We did get a nice rain. I wish Texas would get a rain. I loved the picture of you and Papa.
Love, Mimi
